I have had several requests for the Norfolk lists so thought it easiest to send them to everyone: Yarmouth, Gressenhall, Norwich Social History.

Here are some other items:

  1. HLF is looking for a new Regional Chair. Details are at Committee Chair Vacancy.
  2. On Wednesday I went to a presentation by the British Science Association about their public engagement activities. I noted that museums are eligible for their community grants of up to £500 for small projects, aimed at certain priority groups. The deadline is 23 November. Further information is available online.
  3. SHARE has advertised its Forward Planning grants scheme.
  4. My attention has also been drawn to a very interesting Antarctic heritage research opportunity partly based in Cambridge.
  5. I thought it would be useful for everyone to know the dates of some meetings for the next year: The Cambridgeshire Museums Forum meets on 16 February at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and on 6 July at Whittlesey Museum, then in September at the Sedgwick. The Cambridgeshire Heritage Education Group meets on 4 November at the Museum of Cambridge. The next MiC meeting will probably be in January.

  1. All museums are being warned by ACE to be extra vigilant (see attached).

  3. SHARE have now announced their small scale capital grants scheme (see Information and Application Form attached). These grants are designed to increase the resilience of museums by encouraging them to borrow significant items from National and other major museums. The grants will probably in the region of £10,000 to £30,000. The deadline is 20 November.
  4. The David Parr House in Cambridge is recruiting a Learning Consultant and an Interpretation Consultant, closing dates 26 October.

Finally, congratulations to Kettle’s Yard for achieving Provisional Accreditation and to Wisbech Museum and Thorney Museum for achieving Full Accreditation!
